I designed this sweater to wear over a formal black dress. It was just right for an outdoor wedding reception on a warm fall afternoon.

4 to 5 sk Douceur et Soie (or equal yardage Rowan Kid Silk Haze)
1 sk Rowan Lurex Shimmer

Finished measurements:

Bust circumfrence: 38 inches
Length: 15.5 inches
Sleeve length: 22 inches

Gauge:

5.5 stitches and 7 rows per inch, size 4 needles.

Back:

Cast on 90 sts. Work in stockinette stitch, increasing 1 sts at each end of every 4th row until there are 108 sts. Continue working straight until back measures 8 inches.

Start armholes. Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (98 sts). Decrease 1 sts at each end of the next 7 rows. Then decrease 1 sts at each end of the following 4 alternate rows (76 sts). Continue working straight until the armhole measures 8 inches. End with a wrong side (purl) row.

Start shoulder and neck shaping. Bind off 7 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (62 sts). Bind off 7 sts, knit until there are 11 sts on the right needle. Turn leaving the remaining sts on a holder. Bind off 4 sts and work to end. Bind off remaining 7 sts. Rejoin yarn to work sts that were put on hold. Bind off the center 26 sts for neck and knit to end (18 sts). Bind off 7 sts, work to end of row. Bind off 4 sts, work to end of row. Bind off remaining 7 sts.

Fronts:

(Make two fronts with mirror image shaping.)

Cast on 26 sts. On arnhole edge increase 1 sts every 4th row 9 times. AT THE SAME TIME shape center edge by increasing 1 sts on every row on the center edge 9 times, increase 1 sts on every other row on center edge 6 times, increase 1 sts every 4th row on center egde 3 times, increase 1 sts every 6th row on center edge one time (54 sts).

Knit even until front measures 8 inches.

Start armhole. Bind off 5 sts at the armhole edge. Decrease 1 sts at the armhole edge for the next 7 rows. Decrease 1 sts at armhole egde on every other row 4 times (38 sts).

Start neck shaping. Decrease 1 sts at neckedge on every other row 13 times (25 sts). Continue straight until armhole measures 8 inches. Bind off 7 sts at armhole egde, work to end of row. Work one row. Bind off 7 sts at armhole egde, work to end of row. Bind off 4 sts at neck edge, work to end of row. Bind off remaining 7 sts.

Sleeves:

Cast on 49 sts. Increase 1 sts and each end off every 10th row until there are 75 sts. Continue working straight until sleeve measures 17 inches.

Start shaping sleeve top. Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (65 sts). Decrease 1 sts at each end of the next 3 rows. Then decrease 1 sts at each end of every other row 3 times. Then decrease 1 sts at each end of every 4th row until there are 43 sts. End with a wrong side (purl) row. Decrease 1 sts at each end of every other row 4 times. Binf off 3 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 29 sts.

Finishing:

Sew together sweater. With Lurex Shimmer, single crochet around cuffs and the entire neck/buttonband/bottom egde of sweater. Sew on hook and eye closure at base of v-neck.
